Among the rolling hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, where the plains gently give way to the first foothills of the Apennines, lies Golferenzo. A small medieval village of stone houses and winding lanes, surrounded by vineyards, open countryside and views that change with the seasons.
It was here, in 2019, that the story of Borgo dei Gatti began. A project born from the desire to breathe new life into the village’s historic homes while preserving their character, their stories and the beauty of what was already here.
One house at a time, doors and windows reopened, forgotten spaces came back to life, and a part of the old village began to be lived in once again.
This is the essence of Borgo dei Gatti: not a hotel simply built in a beautiful setting, but a different way of experiencing the village itself.
There are no hotel corridors here, and no identical rooms. Instead, there are individual homes, narrow lanes and hidden courtyards, silence and far-reaching views. There is time for an unhurried breakfast, a leisurely walk, or simply watching the light change over the hills.
Because here, slow living is not a trend. It is a way of life that has always belonged to this place.
And perhaps that is the rarest luxury we can offer those who come to stay with us: the pleasure of having time again.
